In February 1997, less than a year after golfer Arnold Palmer took delivery of the first plane off the production line, the Citation X won the National Aeronautic Association’s Robert J. Collier Trophy, an annual award presented for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in the United States. In January 2002, Cessna began delivering Citation Xs with upgraded engines, which give the 12-passenger planes a maximum cruising speed of 604 mph.
