A New Musée de France Honors René Lalique

The work of renowned artist René Lalique is being celebrated with the opening of the Lalique Museum on July 1 in Wingen-sur-Moder, France, the former site of Lalique’s glass factory in the Alsace region. The museum displays the artist’s varied works, including 550 drawings, jewelry, perfume bottles, tableware, lights, vases, and more. The grand foyer of the building features a glass chandelier made by the artist’s son, Marc Lalique, in 1951, which was restored for the museum’s opening. The chandelier weighs about 3,800 pounds, measures nearly 10 feet tall, and is composed of more than 300 pieces. Additionally, the Silvio Denz Foundation room showcases some 230 never-before-seen René Lalique antique perfume bottles. (+33.03.88.89.08.14, www.musee-lalique.com)
