Annual Armory Show Will Bring Contemporary and Modern Art Galore

Nearly 200 dealers from more than 30 countries will showcase modern and contemporary artwork by Ai Weiwei, Peter Doig, Maurizio Cattelan, and more at the 14th annual Armory Show art fair from March 8 to 11. Held on Piers 92 and 94 in New York City, the show will host open forum discussions with industry professionals, a film series, an exhibition of Nordic artwork, and, for the first time, a series of solo projects from 11 leading young art dealers from around the world.

Among the show’s highlights will be Listening Station—an installation of reclaimed materials by artist Theaster Gates, who will also contribute a host of specially commissioned, limited-edition work—presented by Kavi Gupta galleries of Chicago and Berlin; and two portraits by Pablo Picasso—La Femme qui Pleure and Portrait de Femme—courtesy of John Szoke Editions in New York City.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) will host an opening party for the show on March 7 to benefit the museum. Tickets are available from $125—which gets you access to the Armory Show a day early and a ticket to the opening-night party at MoMA—up to $750 for early access to the art show, a ticket to the party at MoMA, private access to additional galleries, and the chance to meet artist Theaster Gates. The show fee is $30 for general admission, $60 for a four-day pass. (212.645.6440, www.thearmoryshow.com)
