New Halcyon Gallery Debuts with a Chihuly Exhibit

Just in time for its 30th anniversary in business, London’s Halcyon Gallery opened its newest location on December 5 at 144–146 New Bond St. The 12,500-square-foot space, housed in a 100-year-old Georgian-style building, is the fourth Halcyon Gallery and the third in the Mayfair neighborhood, while the Knightsbridge branch is nearby. The new gallery debuts with a Dale Chihuly exhibition, which is on display through February 29. Known as a pioneer in studio glassblowing, the 71-year-old artist created several new installations for the exhibit, which spans the gallery’s three floors and also features elaborate Chihuly chandeliers and vibrant marine creatures from his Seaforms collection dating back to the ’80s. In addition to glass sculptures, the exhibit includes some of Chihuly’s lesser-known drawings and paintings, which are just as vibrant as his hand-blown glass pieces.
