Best of the Best 2011: Sedans: Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG (www.mbusa.com) appears only slightly different from the previous version of the midsize sedan; the big changes were made under the hood. Mercedes-Benz replaced a normally aspirated 507 hp V-8 with a new V-8 and a pair of turbochargers that increase horsepower to 518. The old CLS63 AMG accelerated from zero to 60 mph in just under five seconds; the new version reaches that speed in just over four seconds.

Mercedes-Benz, which is expected to price the CLS63 AMG at about $100,000, offers an optional performance package that increases the horsepower to 550 and the top speed to 186 mph, and drops the zero-to-60-mph time to 3.9 seconds.
