Best of the Best 2011: Sport-Utility Vehicles: Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography Black Limited Edition

  • Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography Black Limited Edition

When you have been building a generally peerless, certainly palatial off-road icon for four decades, what better way to celebrate its big 4-0 than by creating the ultimate edition of that vehicle? Limited to 175 examples for the U.S. market and dubbed the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography Black Limited Edition (www.landrover.com), the $123,000 SUV is dressed in a fashion suited to a formal occasion. The exterior is what Land Rover calls Barolo Black, which displays traces of red under certain lighting conditions. The interior leather is available in black, ivory, or pimento red. The Limited Edition also features a chrome-edge grille and 10-spoke alloy wheels. It is powered by a 510 hp supercharged V-8 and equipped with four-wheel drive and hill-start and gradient-descent-braking systems.
