Classic Cars and Motorcycles Come to Beverly Hills on May 6

Robert Ross

Los Angeles automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts with a passion for rolling sculpture should make their way to Beverly Hills for the Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, May 6. Populating the estate of the storied Greystone Mansion—owned by the city of Beverly Hills—will be 125 of the finest classic and vintage cars and bikes residing in Southern California. Even jaded Pebble Beach regulars will see examples of pre- and postwar classics worthy of gracing the most prestigious show fields around the world, all in a genteel setting that recalls the grand Beverly Hills estates of the 1920s.

This year’s automotive highlights will include a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Short Chassis Zagato Spyder; a highly original 1939 Bugatti Type 57C coupe; and a 1925 Hispano Suiza H6B. In all, 12 classes will include Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Bentley and other pre- and postwar European and American automobiles. Motorcycles include classics from Harley-Davidson, BMW, Honda, and other less well-known marques.

Now in its third year, Greystone has become a must-attend event for concours-goers in the California southland, and is a splendid venue for visitors in town with an afternoon to spare. In addition to great machines, select vendor sponsors will offer automobilia, watches, jewelry, fashion, and fine art. In addition, seminars will be hosted by experts in the car and automobilia collecting arenas.

Tickets are $108 in advance and $133 at the door, and include unlimited gourmet food and drink, a program, a poster, and access to the 18-acre estate grounds and 55-room mansion. Ticket sales, which are limited to 3,000 people, will benefit the nonprofit Friends of Greystone, with all proceeds going toward the preservation of the Estate.
