Cruiser: Harley-Davidson CVO Fat Bob

These may be lean times for the motorcycle industry, but the unrestrained enthusiasm inherent in the Harley-Davidson CVO Fat Bob earns it the distinction of being selected as our favorite cruiser this year. Exuberantly constructed with handcrafted details that could only come from Harley’s Milwaukee-based Custom Vehicle Operations division, the Fat Bob—which has a base price of $25,299—exemplifies the multidisciplinary art of building the ultimate custom cruiser. Unusual paint finishes, such as satin pewter with sandstorm grind and opal blue with hellfire flames; extensive Midnight Pearl–plated components; and a distressed-leather saddle distinguish the CVO Fat Bob from imitators. And thanks to a Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110 powerplant with a Heavy Breather high-flow air intake, the Fat Bob flies. Only 1,300 of these incomparable cruisers were made, but those fortunate enough to acquire one have the pleasure of owning the most exclusive example of two-wheeled Americana money can buy.
