Best of the Best 2012: Business Aircraft: Super Midsize: Cessna Citation Sovereign

Michelle Seaton

The Cessna Citation Sovereign (316.517.6056, www.cessna.com) is a bit of an enigma. Its price ($17.9 million), low fuel consumption (247 gallons per flight hour), and runway performance (it can take off in less than 3,700 feet at sea level and less than 5,000 feet at high elevations) are characteristic of a midsize jet, and an economical one at that. Yet it has a range of 3,276 miles, a cruise speed of more than 500 mph, and enough room to seat 12 passengers and hold 135 cubic feet of baggage. Not surprisingly, given its unusual combination of features, this jet is in high demand in the secondary market.
