Best of the Best 2012: Business Aircraft: Ultralong-Range: Gulfstream G550

Mary Grady

Gulfstream’s Ultralong-Range GV series has long been the private-jet gold standard, and the Gulfstream G550 (912.965.3000, www.gulfstream.com) adds to that status. The 43-foot-11-inch-long cabin of the $63.5 million jet, which cruises at 561 mph and has a range of about 7,700 miles, provides four zones and seats 18 passengers. Travelers seeking even more cabin space and a longer range can upgrade to the G650, which Gulfstream expects to begin delivering by this summer. The company now offers G550 buyers the option of upgrading to the Elite interior, which includes ambient lighting, stainless-steel detailing in the galley, and fully reclining seats.
