Best Of The Best 2006: Lofty Pedigree

  • Marilyn M. Mower

A fine Italian builder with a long history of producing fast patrol boats, Cantieri Navali Baglietto displays its pedigree in its line of modern high-speed aluminum yachts. The newest of its semiproduction boats (the company also builds custom) is the 115-foot Baglietto Hard Top, which seems like a misnomer because the hard top actually is a glass-panel roof. This is a Mediterranean-style vessel, so it has a sun pad on the bow, but farther aft a hatch pops open to reveal the yacht’s athwartship tender stowage. The spacious main-deck salon is ideal for relaxing on big, loose couches or at the bar. The master cabin and VIP stateroom span the beam of the lower deck, and an additional twin guest cabin sits opposite a library. The typical powerplant is a pair of 2,275 hp MTUs, which set this boat flying as fast as 41 mph.
