Best Of The Best 2006: Value And Velocity

  • Gregory Anderson

Do the math for a minute. The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 can be draped in any of six paint pigments—each of which is available with as many as three different interiors—for a grand total of 18 possible color combinations. With a combined output of 9,090 hp (at 505 hp each), the complete Z06 collection boasts better bang-for-the-buck than the aforementioned Veyron with its comparatively paltry 987 hp: The full-spectrum set of Corvette Z06 coupes would cost just under $1.2 million, or slightly less than a single Bugatti.

The Z06’s $66,000 price belies its supercar performance. Powered by an endurance-proven V-8 engine, the vehicle bludgeons its way to a comparatively sane top speed of 196 mph.
