Best of the Best 2012: Semicustom Megayachts: Pershing 108

  • Danielle Cutler

Pershing, a Ferretti Group subsidiary, may have moved away from the fast-and-furious powerboat market when it introduced the Pershing 108 (+39.0721.956211, www.pershing-yacht.com) in July 2011, but it retained its appreciation for speed. The brand’s new semicustom model is powered by three efficient MTU engines, each paired with a surface propeller. This triple-engine arrangement, a first for Pershing, delivers a top speed of 42 knots. Cruising comfortably at 10 knots enables a range of more than 1,100 miles. The yacht’s standard configuration includes four guest staterooms, a full-beam master suite, and three crew cabins. The owners of the inaugural launch, christened Le Caprice IV, replaced one of the guest cabins with a family room. Pershing outfitted the yacht in Poltrona Frau leather and Fendi Casa Club House Italia and Armani Casa soft goods. Other highlights include a retractable glass wall between the aft deck and the main salon, an intimate seating and sunning area on the foredeck, and a large sundeck with adjustable seating.
