Blohm + Voss 407-foot SUV

  • Rachel Christopher

It’s being touted as “the ultimate SUV at sea.” Plans for the 120 MY/X, a 407-foot exploration yacht from German builder Blohm + Voss, have been designed, and the vessel will achieve a 5,000-nautical-mile range at 16 knots. If you have always wanted to cross the oceans in the comfortable company of your 16 closest friends, the B+V 120 MY/X will transport you, your stateroom mate, and 16 additional guests, along with 50 crew to attend to your every need.

Comfort seems to be the top priority, with a propulsion plant designed to achieve the lowest noise and vibration levels, along with the bonus of great handling and environmental friendliness by way of a diesel-electrical propulsion system powering three 6,035-horsepower pod drives. Blohm + Voss expects a maximum of 18.5 knots.

The B+V 120 MY/X will feature an owner’s deck with a duplex suite connected via a private stairway to the owner’s spaces on the guest deck, providing views from the bedroom, each of the two bathrooms, and the gym, which is located behind the massage room. The duplex also houses a salon—with direct bow-area Jacuzzi access—and an office with meeting area.

The main deck comprises six guest staterooms, and the guest deck houses two two-story VIP suites. Dining and lounging areas, plus a swimming pool, share space on the guest deck. Balconies and outdoor space, including a two-level beach club, are in no short supply.

For an efficient arrival and departure, the boat is equipped with two helipads. (+49 40 1800 2100, www.blohmvossyachts.com)
