FrontRunners: Jonah’s Ark

Belgian design firm Puresang has unveiled a 328-foot yacht concept that features three levels of glass-surrounded living space rising above a hull shaped like the whale for which the vessel is named. The outlandish design of Beluga: Emperor of the Seven Seas (www.pure-sang.com), which was introduced at September’s Monaco Yacht Show, calls for a 7,000-square-foot outdoor lounge with a 49-foot-long swimming pool on the forward deck. At the bow would be a 1,000-?square-foot sundeck sheltered by a roof that opens like the mouth of a whale to expose a greenhouse with palm trees and a vegetable garden. Puresang is in discussions with a major Dutch builder to construct Beluga, which would accommodate 12 guests and 20 crew and sell for approximately $200 million.
