The Open-Minded Atlantis 58

Diane M. Byrne

Open yachts feature exactly what their name suggests: big, open spaces for relaxing and sunning. Atlantis takes the open yacht concept even further with its new Atlantis 58 flagship. Sure, the yacht has a terrific cockpit for lounging or dining. There’s also a sliding sunroof, a feature found aboard several other open-style yachts. But when’s the last time you saw a yacht in this size range able to accommodate a huge crowd for lunch? The Atlantis 58’s dining area, located to port, expands unexpectedly to seat 12. First, you can slide out the aft portion of the seating area. After grabbing fill-in cushions stowed in the fixed seatbacks, turn your attention to the table. It extends thanks to a pull-out support and a fold-out teak tabletop.

Other good relaxation-oriented amenities include a lounge outboard alongside the helm. With the sunroof and sliding windows to each side kept open, the lounge is about as pleasant a spot as the foredeck sun pad. Down below are more nice features: a choice of two or three staterooms. You can further opt for a fitness area or an office instead of the third cabin—yet another unexpected twist. (www.atlantisyachts.it)
