The $6,000-per-pair Reference 3.5 loudspeakers (www.roundsound.com) from Anthony Gallo Acoustics are striking, but they are under 3 feet tall and do not dominate a room. Gallo has taken elements from the design of its Reference Stradas and incorporated them into the Reference 3.5s so that they yield excellent high- and mid-range output. Gallo’s cylindrical diaphragm transducers provide an ambient 300 degrees of dispersion for the higher register, while the side-firing 10-inch woofers hit clean bass responses down to 34 Hz.
