Lalique Makes Its Musical Debut

World-renowned French crystal manufacturer Lalique recently teamed up with French electronic-music mogul Jean Michel Jarre to create the AeroSystem One by Lalique. Launching in May, the sizable music dock—which stands more than 3.5 feet tall and weighs more than 30 pounds—is designed after Jarre Technologies’ stainless steel AeroSystem One from 2010. The new system employs Lalique crystal for much of the structure instead of the glass used by the original AeroSystem. The approximately $21,000 Lalique sound system accommodates all Apple iPod and iPhone models and, like its predecessor, features two directional speakers and a 60-watt subwoofer. It also offers playback from a variety of audio sources via a standard USB port and a 3.5 mm mini jack. Jarre will produce just 999 examples of the Aerosystem One by Lalique, each of which the crystal maker will adorn with an Art Deco Masque de Femme and images of sea life (both traditional Lalique themes), which require the skill of 13 master glassblowers to create.
