Sonus faber, the Italian manufacturer known for its stylish loudspeakers, has introduced a special-edition version of its widely praised Elipsa speaker model. The Elipsa SE, which began reaching U.S. customers this summer, offers the same elliptical cabinet shape as the standard Elipsa speakers, but achieves greater levels of fidelity in the high register by employing the ring-radiator tweeter found in the company’s Stradivari speakers, the flagship of its Homage line. This high-frequency driver unit, paired with a 6-inch midrange driver, a 10-inch subwoofer, and a newly refined non-resonant crossover, imparts the Elipsa SE with a level of performance unheard of at this price point. And, with a cabinet finished with multiple layers of lacquer to achieve the desired tuning for the enclosure, the speakers also deliver a gorgeous Italian aesthetic that incorporates seamlessly into any audio system and listening environment. The Sonus faber Ellipsa SE speakers, priced at $22,900 per pair, are only available in Piano Gloss Red Violin finish and can be purchased through Sonus faber’s U.S. importer, Sumiko Audio.
