Strut Launchport: A Stylish iPad Charge

John Lyon

The newest offering from Strut—a San Clemente, Calif.–based purveyor of luxury automobile accessories—is a departure from its usual selection of grilles and wheels. The Strut Launchport is an iPad recharging system that elegantly mounts and powers most available versions of the tablet. The new system comprises a special case and a charging pedestal crafted from jewelry-grade stainless steel that is chromed and then triple-buffed. An array of magnets holds the tablet securely in place while the iPad charges inductively without the use of wires. The spherical pedestal can be rotated in any direction and the swiveling docking port allows the iPad to be switched between vertical and horizontal orientations. The case is available in a range of colors and finishes that includes burl and carbon fiber. The Strut Launchport is priced at $1,250. (949.369.9126, www.strutlaunchport.com)
