Best of the Best 2012: Men's Fashion: Fabric Innovation: Isaia

  • Jill Newman

Old is new with Isaia’s richly textured topcoat. The company employs a 14th-century Tuscan method of processing wool to create the characteristic curls of its Casentino cloth. The process, which involves beating the fabric on a loom, makes the material denser, warmer, and water-resistant. All of that goes into this superchic, double-breasted Casentino coat ($2,890), which adds a stylish new dimension to a classic. (212.245.3733, www.isaia.it)
