Stylish Shades

In the crowded high-end sunglass market, Morgenthal Frederics distinguishes itself with its signature one-of-a-kind buffalo horn frames that are handmade by master craftsmen in Germany. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the brand created a limited-edition collection of four styles, each inspired by one of the best-selling classic styles from its past in new colorations with fine detailing. Only 25 editions will be made of each frame for a total of 100 pairs of sunglasses, and each is numbered and stamped with the style’s name. The four styles—Rhapsody, Flange, Mimi, and Chet—are made entirely of Indian water buffalo horn. The Rhapsody style features hand-faceted temple detailing that is reminiscent of the 1920s, and it comes in a gray vertical-striation buffalo horn with gray UVA/UVB lenses ($1,895). The large rectangular Chet set is made in a deep mahogany-colored horn projecting a sleek, retro style ($1,695). The horn frames are especially sturdy, yet lightweight and stylish. The sunglasses are available starting in August through the brand’s network of company-owned boutiques. (www.morgenthalfrederics.com)
