TwinLuxe’s Better Grooming Habits

Laurie Kahle

When identical twin brothers Anthony and Hubert Tsai speak of their new shaving and skin-care line, TwinLuxe, they frequently use the word “performance,” which they say defines their philosophy of life. Seeking to bring art and craftsmanship to the daily shaving ritual, the Tsais draw inspiration from the automotive and watchmaking realms, where tradition and technology harmoniously coexist. The design of their handcrafted shaving instruments is the domain of Marek Djordjevic, whose repertoire includes the Rolls-Royce Phantom family of cars. Because quality materials have a role to play too, TwinLuxe utilizes unbleached silvertip badger hair, highly wear-resistant PVD coatings, and alumina ceramic. All chrome elements are hand polished, and the silvertip badger hair plumes for the brushes are sorted, washed, and bundled the old-fashioned way by hand in Germany. The hand assembly of each set takes about an hour then it is submitted for a final quality inspection. And to enhance one’s shave results, the duo developed a skin-care line using Asian botanicals—such as pearl powder and hydrolyzed rice protein—that can be mixed and matched to suit one’s skin type.
