Wilkes Bashford Gets a Makeover for the New Year

After 50 years serving as one of the leading men’s clothing stores in San Francisco, Wilkes Bashford has completely renovated its historic seven-story flagship location, creating an inviting, townhouse-style interior that is appointed with Italian marble, limestone, and reclaimed-wood furnishings.

Beyond the elegant ambiance, Wilkes Bashford highlights some of the world’s premiere brands in men’s clothing and accessories and women’s jewelry with exclusive designs. The penthouse suite—with space for cocktails and lounging—features in-store corners for Brioni and Kiton, and boutiques for Brunello Cucinelli, Loro Piana, and Ermenegildo Zegna are located elsewhere throughout the store. Wilkes Bashford has also expanded its offering of high-end men’s collections with the addition of Charvet, Gaziano and Girling, Lanvin, Rag and Bone, and 3x1, among others.

The retailer was purchased by the Mitchell family, who owns the prestigious Connecticut stores Richard’s (in Greenwich) and Mitchell’s (in Westport). They redesigned both the main Wilkes Bashford location in San Francisco and its smaller Palo Alto store. (415.986.4380, www.wilkesbashford.com)
