Zegna’s Fabric Innovations Stave Off the Heat

Christina Garofalo

Ermenegildo Zegna’s spring-summer collection features an unexpected array of sleek black, navy, and charcoal pieces that are designed to remain surprisingly cool even in the heat because of the brand’s fabric innovation called Cool Effect. Named for its heat-quelling capability and soft, light texture, this new line of wool-based clothing has an exclusive treatment that replicates the reflective quality of white surfaces but in dark garments.

The Cool Effect wardrobe features Zegna’s characteristic Italian tailoring in details like Napa leather detailing, highlighted in the Safari jacket ($2,995). The Cool Effect collection also consists of fitted sartorial and sportswear jackets, including the Cool Effect 10-pocket blazer ($1,995), trousers ($695), suits (from $2,395 to $2,595), and the formal tuxedo ($2,895). The Cool Effect fabric also is available through Su Misura, the brand’s made-to-measure service. (888.886.3462, www.zegna.com)
