FrontRunners: Best-Dressed Man

This fall, Alan Flusser once again attempts to educate men on the finer points of style with his third book, Dressing the Man (HarperCollins), a 350-page fashion tome complete with a 35-page glossary. The book aspires to be the definitive men’s guide to dressing well, a subject in which Flusser is very well versed. A 30-year fashion veteran who is considered one of the best-dressed men in America, Flusser had operated a signature shop within Saks Fifth Avenue in New York for the past eight years until he recently departed Saks to open his own store on East 48th Street (212.265.4591). There, he puts his lessons into practice. “When a client first enters my shop, I try to teach him the proper way to wear a dark suit, tie, and shoes,” he says. “If he can’t do that, no amount of money or high-fashion clothes are going to help.”
