FrontRunners: Casting Couches

The new Phyllis Morris Originals Old Hollywood furniture line (www.phyllismorris.com) reflects the appreciation that the company’s namesake and founder had for dramatic flare. Like all of the 55-year-old company’s furniture, which it makes at its factory in Los Angeles, this latest collection displays Art Deco and Hollywood Regency influences. Phyllis Morris will customize the upholstery and size of each piece. "We say yes, and we figure it out later," says company president Jamie Adler, who is Morris’ daughter. "No client is turned away, no matter how extravagant the request." rel="nofollow" The new collection includes the $9,000, 96-inch, fuchsia-colored Regency sofa, which is accented with channeled upholstery and fluted wooden feet; the $19,900 Sutton bed, with polished chrome and a white-lacquer finish; and the 11-foot-wide, $18,950 Sculptured sofa, which is covered in 48 yards of fabric.
