You know a house is unusual when the seller has been asked, "Does Russia still have this site listed as a target?" A Kansas company called 20th Century Castles buys and sells Atlas-F nuclear missile silos (www.missilebases.com) constructed during the Cold War, and some of them have been converted into extravagant homes. One example is a $2.3 million property near New York’s Saranac Lake. Aboveground, only a 2,000-square-foot cabin is visible, but just below, in what was a missile-control center, lies a two-level, three-bedroom house. And even if the property remains a Russian target, 20th Century Castles claims that it can withstand a nuclear hit.
