FrontRunners: Picture Perfect

Photographer Monica Rich Kosann (203.972.9193, mrkphoto.com), who has been capturing images of American families for nearly two decades, has introduced a line of custom cases for her black-and-white portraits and other fine prints. A collector of vintage sterling silver cigarette cases and powder compacts, Kosann has fashioned frames inspired by the 1920s-era items for her clients for several years. When demand for her cases grew, Kosann traveled to Italy to locate the silversmith families who made the original containers. She commissioned them to produce modern renditions in sterling silver ($1,000 to $5,000) and colorful glass enamel ($6,000 to $8,000), which can be engraved with a family crest or other personal mark.
