FrontRunners: Premium Blend

In 2003, the Italian boatbuilder Mochi Craft, part of the Ferretti Group (www.ferrettigroupusa.com), introduced an astonishing hybrid that combined elements of an American lobster boat with those of a Mediterranean pleasure craft. Baby boomers in particular loved the 51 Dolphin for its soft, rounded lines, 1950s-era automotive styling, and racy but muscular look. Now, following the 74 and 44 Dolphins (launched in 2004 and 2005, respectively), Mochi Craft will unveil a 64-foot version at the International Boat Show in Genoa, Italy, to be held October 7 through 15. Among other touches, the Mochi Craft 64 Dolphin will feature two large, top-deck sundecks that are out of view to onlookers. The boat will reach the American market next year, with a starting price of about $3 million. . .
