FrontRunners: Proper English Pram

The Silver Cross stroller (866.887.9642, www.silvercrossbaby.com) is called the Rolls-Royce of baby carriages for good reason: It is produced in a manner reminiscent of the meticulous craftsmanship that characterizes that other venerable British carriage maker. While all of Silver Cross’s carriages are exceptional, its line of traditional, non-collapsible models has a charm that transcends nostalgia. Each is handcrafted and hand-finished, from the curving steel suspension to the weatherproofed canvas exterior.

To the relief of America’s discerning new Moms and Dads, Silver Cross has at last followed the lead of Burberry and made its line of products available in the United States. While the 125-year-old company’s inventory includes more modern strollers, as well as doll-size strollers and rocking horses, it offers the traditional carriages in four styles, including the Marlborough, priced at $1,950.
