FrontRunners: Select Smoke

Cameroon wrappers usually surround mild filler tobacco, as most cigar makers prefer to emphasize the distinctive flavor of the African leaf. What a surprise, then, to taste the Camacho Select, a Cameroon-wrapped cigar made with unusually bold filler tobaccos. The filler’s flavor does not overpower the wrapper, but instead seems to amplify the silky, sweet taste of the Cameroon leaf. Five sizes are available; the 52 × 5.75 Super Toro that we tried delivered a quite satisfying hourlong smoke. ($6.45 each) www.camachocigars.com
