FrontRunners: Select Smoke

The Editors

The G in the Saint Louis Rey Serie G Natural line stands for grande, and these Falstaffian cigars certainly earn that designation. The slimmest in the line has a ring gauge of 54, the largest size commonly found in smoke shops. The heftiest Serie G is the 6-inch No. 6 shown here. The cigar’s 60 ring gauge, which translates to a diameter of 15/16 inch, produces a cool, easy-drawing smoke. The Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos used in the Serie G typically have an intense taste, but the cigar’s creators somehow have coaxed the mild flavor of a vintage Dominican from these leaves. The striking Gershon Warthog Cigar Cutter stands no chance of going unnoticed in your smoking lounge—or of disappearing into the void that so often claims pocket-size cigar cutters (along with pens, cell phones, and keys). The handle of this stainless steel, guillotine-style cutter is a warthog tusk, which affords an easy grip and lends the device a unique look befitting the Explorers Club. A black leather storage pouch is included. ($140) www.gershonjewelers.com
