FrontRunners: Silver Lining

After demonstrating a golden touch with his youthful tailored clothing, Gianluca Isaia (888.996.7555) is mining a new market with his Argento sportswear label. Argento (which means “silver” in Italian) is a decidedly modern collection of lightweight, completely unconstructed jackets and slacks that retain suitlike structures. The line also encompasses classic sportswear pieces such as zip-front blousons, knitwear, and woven shirts that are made utilizing a precision-sewing technique associated with Italian tailoring. “In America now there is a very fine line between suits and sportswear,” says Alban Lesne, the company’s U.S. sales director, “so we felt there was room for tailored pieces that function as sportswear and vice versa.” Prices for shirts and cashmere sweaters in the Argento collection begin at $285 and $800, respectively.
