FrontRunners: The High Life

Maryann Hammers

The glistening Maybach 62 waiting at the airport is the first of many modern conveniences that will mark your stay at Skylofts (877.646.5638, www .skyloftsmgmgrand.com), a new hotel occupying the top floors of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Unlike MGM’s other upscale Vegas property—the stately, Old World–style Mansion—Skylofts is a sleek, contemporary hotel perched high above the Strip. Each of its 51 one-, two-, and three-bedroom lofts affords city views through two-story windows, and no fewer than five plasma televisions per loft (including some embedded in bathroom mirrors) ensure that you always have something to watch. Push-button remotes control your room’s TVs, thermostat, jukebox music system, drapes, mood lighting, and more. For tasks requiring additional effort, push a button to summon your personal butler, who is available 24 hours a day.
