FrontRunners: The Royal Treatment

  • William Kissel

Elements Spa and Salon (323.933.0212), the chic hair salon located in Los Angeles’ new deluxe shopping plaza, The Grove at Farmer’s Market, has created a shave fit for a king. In the salon’s Barber Spa, gentlemen can choose between a classic $25 wet shave and the shop’s exclusive $45 Royal Shave, which utilizes aromatherapy products and services from The Art of Shaving. The 45-minute indulgence includes a preshave oil therapy followed by shaving cream applied with a sterilized badger-tip brush, a lavender-soaked hot towel wrap, and an aftershave mask. “Usually when you go through a shave, your skin—particularly sensitive skin—feels very burned and beaten up,” says Shawn Tavakoli, owner of Beauty Collection Apothecary, which operates Elements. “But this leaves the skin feeling calm, cool, and rejuvenated.” For an extra royal touch, you can follow the shave with a private appointment with Richard Dalton, the late Princess Diana’s personal hairstylist, who now calls Elements home for part of each year.
