Gold Standards: Bottega Veneta Suite
The St. Regis Hotel, New York
"Excitement and glamour have come back to hotels," declares Ross Klein, president of the Luxury Brands Group, a subsidiary of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide that includes the St. Regis Hotel, New York. "Designer offerings like the Bottega Veneta Suite at the St. Regis are the icing on the cake."
A leather-goods boutique might not be the most obvious place to look for inspiration when creating a $7,500-per-night suite at one of New York’s most prestigious addresses, but the Bottega Veneta accommodation has been such a success that the chain has enlisted the firm to create a similar space at the St. Regis Grand Hotel in Rome. The 1,700-square-foot Manhattan suite, which was completed in 2006, features an entryway foyer, two bedrooms and baths, and a living room/dining room with a fireplace and large windows overlooking Fifth Avenue.
It goes without saying, perhaps, that the Bottega Veneta suite is furnished with pieces from the company’s furniture collection. Aficionados of the brand might instantly recognize the gentle palette, a serene and sophisticated range of neutrals and earthy colors. If you ever have wondered what it would be like to live inside an oversize leather purse, this is your chance to find out.
