At The Europe Hotel & Resort’s new 50,000-square-foot spa, an indoor swimming pool overlooks Lough Lein, the largest of the lakes in Ireland’s Killarney National Park. The resort—set on the shore of the lake and in the shadow of the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks mountain range—completed a nearly two-year-long renovation last summer. Hirsch Bedner Associates designed the spa, where glass-filament chandeliers illuminate the pool (above), as well as the Europe’s new two-story lobby lounge and a few of the 187 guest rooms. (The resort remodeled the majority of its rooms in 2004.) Venturing beyond the rooms, lobby lounge, and spa, guests can explore the national park and tee off or cast a line at the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, which is located next door to the Europe.
