Artful Portuguese Cabinets

  • Jorge Arango

The Portuguese furniture maker Boca do Lobo has taken two of its most popular designs—the Diamond sideboard and Pixel cabinet—and modified them for two limited editions (only 20 will be made of each). The Diamond sideboard is covered in silver leaf finished with a layer of translucent emerald-green paint covered in high-gloss varnish. The design’s original lion feet have been replaced with a contemporary mahogany base sheathed in bronze. The Pixel cabinet is sheathed in 1,664 triangles of anodized aluminum, giving it the faceted appearance of capitonné, a technique of sculpting fabric three-dimensionally. Its insides are lined with antiqued mirror. The sideboard is $30,300 and the cabinet is $31,850. (703.369.3324, www.bocadolobo.com
