David Weeks Goes Beyond Lighting

The industrial designer David Weeks, known for his signature lighting fixtures, is venturing into new media. He has unveiled two rug designs in conjunction with the distributor Christopher Farr. The Onda and Bulle rugs are witty interpretations of Weeks’s abstract Boi and Sarus lighting collections. By inventively overlapping and abutting the repeating forms of those collections, Weeks creates patterns that bring to mind the abstract landscapes of the California painter Richard Diebenkorn. The 10-foot-by-13-foot rugs ($16,200) are available in two color ways. Additionally, Weeks has released the Dreyfuss chair ($45,100), a sleek cast-resin shape on either polished-chrome or carbon-steel legs. Finally, he has debuted new lighting concepts: Bramah pendant lighting plays with different combinations of a single shape, and the Cora floor lamp is Weeks’s updated version of the famous Arco lamp by Achille Castiglioni ($3,765 to $21,600). Weeks’s designs are available through Ralph Pucci International. (212.633.0452, www.ralphpucci.net)
