Donna Karan’s Exotic Travels Define the Home Collection

  • Olivia McNee

Designer Donna Karan collaborated with Lenox to create the Donna Karan Lenox Limited Edition, a collection of numbered home designs inspired by Karan’s exotic travels and featuring many old-world craft techniques.

The handmade pieces include handcrafted authentic ceremonial bowls made from six different metals in a village in Nepal; mango wood vases made from sustainable wood by master Thai craftsmen; sculpted metal vases; and organic-shaped ceramic vessels. The collection is defined by simple, sculptural forms, each bearing a tactile quality that gives it a handmade image. “You can definitely feel the artisan,” says Karan, referring to the inherent look and touch of the handmade pieces. Still, she emphasizes, “We created pieces to be used everyday [that] fit into your lifestyle for both your informal and formal occasions. Just like how my clothes are flexible enough to go day into evening with a change of accessories.” Pieces range from $500 to $3,500. (800.223.4311, www.lenox.com)
