Furniture That Functions as Sculpture, Too

Jorge Arango

The new Modern Masters collection exemplifies New York–based Designlush’s vision of commissioning a variety of talented artists, architects, and designers to create unique, customizable furniture that has an architectural presence. Sculptor William Earle offers the angular Woodcutter’s Chaise ($9,500) of stained Italian ebony veneer layered on hardwood.

Artist/architect Zak Ostrowski designed the automobile-inspired molded fiberglass Pantera Bench ($12,500), which is covered in a charcoal car enamel finish. Architect Philip Michael Wolfson created Twisted X, a series of cocktail tables and stools ($2,400 to $5,500), whose bent, powder-coated metal forms can be used indoors or out.
