Surround-Sound Seating

  • Jorge Arango

Italian furniture house Natuzzi combined modern design and state-of-the-art electronics to create its Sound chair. Contemporizing the swivel pedestal, flared headrest and cupped shape of Arne Jacobsen’s famed Egg chair, the firm has added speakers in the headrest that project sound through perforated leather, enveloping the sitter in favorite tunes chosen from his MP3 player. It’s available in any of Natuzzi’s luxury leathers and averages about $3,100, depending on the leather selected. An optional companion ottoman ranges from about $640 to $900.
