Vintage Hermès Scarves Transformed

Home accessories designer Monica Fittipaldi, the daughter-in-law of racecar driver Emerson Fittipaldi, has amassed a sizable collection of vintage Hermès scarves (her earliest edition is circa 1934, when the company first introduced its coveted scarves). Now, the Miami-based designer is using the silk scarves in sumptuous pillows that showcase Hermès’ hand-printed artistry, some requiring 20 silkscreens to apply the colors. Sold through her company, L’atelier Carré, each pillow is one-of-a-kind and comes with a card bearing the name and date of the scarf and the artist-creator’s name. The pillows sell from $1,100 to $1,300, depending on the rarity and age of the scarf, as well as on the type of material used on the pillow’s backing. They can be special ordered. “Coming from a racing family with a devotion to great design,” says Fittipaldi, “inspired me to combine interior design with a passion for true artisan luxury that only the house of Hermès can claim.” (305.576.0060, info@oneofakindmiami.com)
