Jewelry with a Masculine Edge

  • Elianna Wasser

Jewelry for men isn’t an easy proposition. Most men don’t want sparkly jewels, but they’re seeking distinctive, masculine pieces, and designer Todd Reed has captured that wearable style in his new collection. Reed established his pioneering style with handmade jewelry designs for women featuring rough diamonds and textured metals, and he uses those same strong materials in men’s pieces.

Beginning with unique blends of metals, such as titanium, palladium, steel, and rhodium-plated gold, Reed hand-forges each piece in his Boulder, Colo., studio and often sets them with rough diamonds. Prices range from $395 for a titanium ring with brushed edges to $26,620 for gold cuff links with 11.2 carats of rough diamonds that resemble tumbled rocks. The use of raw diamonds, blackened metals, and organic shapes gives these pieces a coarse, unique appearance, though they’ve been worn for years. (800.376.3609, www.toddreed.com)
