The Ginkgo Flower Inspires David Morris
Art and nature collide in the recently launched Ginkgo Collection by David Morris. For the last decade, Jeremy Morris, David’s son, took over as the label’s head of design and has produced many collections inspired by stones or nature. In his latest collection, Morris marries the brand’s heritage with the ginkgo tree’s symbolic qualities of strength, hope, peace, and longevity.
The Ginkgo jewelry showcases a range of stones, including sapphires, diamonds, and Paraiba tourmalines. Perhaps the most noteworthy of the collection are Morris’ two-part Ginkgo earrings in a fan-like configuration featuring clusters of pear-shaped diamonds and blue Paraiba tourmalines, one of the world’s most sought-after gems, each surrounding a large Burmese sapphire, priced at $275,000. The exclusive collection features 10 one-of-a-kind pieces, starting at $175,000 for an 18-karat white-gold ring with roughly 8 carats of diamonds, 2.5 carats of Paraiba tourmalines, and 4 carats of micro-set blue sapphires surrounding a 10-carat Ceylon sapphire.
