Claremont Rug Company Unveils Chappaqua Family Collection

Claremont Rug Company has announced The Chappaqua Collection, a trove of 100 important first caliber 19th century Oriental rugs from the estate of a prominent family that owned three residences: in Manhattan, Chappaqua, New York, and on the Maine coast.

The Chappaqua Family Collection includes many room sizes and oversizes as well as several palace-size carpets and numerous high-collectible tribal rugs.  The exhibition and sale (online and at the Oakland gallery) runs until November 30. Highlights are formal Laver Kirmans and Ferahan Sarouks, geometric Caucasian Kazaks, Serapis and Tabrizs from Azerbaijan, tribal Qashqai, Laver Kirman and Sultanabads.

Claremont president/founder Jan David Winitz expects significant international interest.  All the rugs are from the Second Golden Age of Persian Weaving, ca. 1800 to ca. 1910. The website features more than 900 rugs. Carpets at the Gallery are valued from $20,000 to more than $500,000 per rug. Contact sales@claremontrug.com or 1-800-441-1332 for more information.
