Silver Arrows Marine Confirms the First Mercedes-Benz Motor Yacht
Silver Arrows Marine, in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz Style, unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show 2013 the final design and specification of the “Silver Arrow of the seas.” ARROW460-Granturismo will launch initially with an exclusive, limited-edition, fully equiped version called Edition 1, which will cost €1.25 million plus VAT, with the first yachts delivered to customers in 2015.
Fulfilling the Silver Arrows Marine dream to build a yacht that blends the best from the automotive and marine worlds, ARROW460-Granturismo boasts the unmistakable dynamism and elegance of a top-of- the-range Mercedes-Benz car. The final designs also reveal the yacht’s many innovations, now confirmed for production following 12 months of development and testing since the first concept ideas were shown in Monaco a year ago.
"We have created something unique with ARROW460-Granturismo,” said Ron Gibbs, Chairman of Silver Arrows Marine Ltd. “I am convinced that for many years to come the yacht will be an eye- catching addition to the seas and yacht marinas of the world.”
Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design at Daimler AG, said: “This new motor yacht with its emotional and high-tech features embodies our Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of sensual purity and is a perfect expression of modern luxury.”
ARROW460-Granturismo offers a new dimension in motor yacht versatility, merging inside and outside areas so everyone can enjoy the view and the sea air. Features include car-like electric opening side windows and a glass roof, the forward section of which rises up to create a “glass pergola” effect. To ensure maximum comfort, the roof is made of “smart” glass that automatically controls light penetration depending on the intensity of the sun. The effect is to fill the large open-plan interior with light and open it up to the outside world in a manner more akin to loft living than anything offered previously by a boat in this class.
