Day of the Dead Comes Alive at Hotel Matilda
The Day of the Dead will come alive at Hotel Matilda, in San Miguel de Allende, when Mexico’s queen of culinary theater, Martha Ortiz, orchestrates dramatic “White & Black Dinners” to celebrate the country’s emotional and festive two-day national holiday, during which ancestors and departed loved ones are honored. The White Dinner is November 1, 2013, which is All Saint’s Day, when those who have gone to heaven are regaled. The Black Dinner is November 2, All Soul’s Day, when those paying for their sins in purgatory are remembered.
The culinary extravaganzas at artsy, lifestyle-focused Hotel Matilda will be complemented by a ‘Dead Art’ exhibit featuring 14 top artists.
The White and Black Dinners will be one-of-a-kind events filled with the masterful creativity of Martha Ortiz, the eclectic and innovative spirit of Hotel Matilda, and the joy, revelry and emotion of The Day of the Dead,” said Hotel Matilda Director Bruce James.
