Bell & Ross Flying High with Dassault Aviation
From the Robb Report Luxury Newswire
The dawn of the jet age made the planet a little smaller and gave birth to a new dynamic in conducting business across continents — business jet travel. At the forefront of this new way of closing deals was French firm Dassault Aviation. The company expanded its groundbreaking technology and design in military aviation to that of civil flight when it created the famous Mystère-Falcon 20. When Charles Lindbergh was sent globe-trotting by PanAm in search of a new aircraft that could satisfy the increasing demand of business jet travel, he saw the ten seat, twin-engine jet and quickly wired back: “I have found your bird.”
Orders for the Mystère-Falcon have increased manifold since its maiden flight in 1963, and this year Dassault was pleased to deliver its 2,250th Falcon 7X generation jet. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the famed aircraft, French watch brand Bell & Ross has created the limited edition Vintage 123 and 126 Falcon. The timepieces embody the spirit of the era with sand-colored hands and numerals, a round, classically shaped polished steel case that features a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a bezel marked with 60-minute graduations. Enhancing the vintage spirit is a brown dial and brown leather wristband. The Vintage 123 Falcon is a three hander with date and the 126 model is equipped with a chronograph displaying 60 second and 30 minute totalizers. Both watches are powered by an automatic ETA movement and are water resistant to 100 meters. Discreetly silkscreened on the dial at 6 o’clock is the outline of the Falcon and the sapphire crystal on the caseback is engraved with the “50 ans du Falcon.”
It was only natural that Dassault, known for precision and groundbreaking technology, would team up with like-minded Bell & Ross for this venture. Bell & Ross also traces its history to military aviation, evoking design and functionality that members of the armed forces rely on, and translating them to civil usage. Together, these two companies give a nod to the heritage of aviation and timekeeping, two necessary industries that keep our planet smaller and our existence functioning in a more precise manner. The Bell & Ross Vintage Falcon 123 and 126 come in a limited edition of 500 pieces and are available exclusively on the e-boutique at www.bellross.com.
